Stanbic Bank Uganda, in a strategic partnership with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Ongea Africa, and the Uganda Digital Society (UDS), has officially launched the Stanbic Ongea Digital Creators Summit 2025.
This national platform is engineered to directly fuel job creation and accelerate Uganda’s digital transformation by professionalising the fast-growing creator economy.
The Summit, unveiled on Friday at a press conference held in Kampala, is anchored by a significant financial commitment from Stanbic Bank, positioning the bank as a primary catalyst in leveraging youth innovation for economic growth.

Fueling Job Creation and Youth Empowerment
Stanbic Bank’s role as Lead Sponsor is a direct realisation of its core purpose: “Uganda is our home; we drive her growth.”
Lois Aber Kwikiriza, Head Marketing and Brand Manager at Stanbic Bank Uganda, announced a massive commitment under the bank’s Women, Youth and Farmers (WYF) Agenda, saying, “Stanbic is investing UGX 1 Trillion over the next three years to expand opportunities for young Ugandans, including those in the digital creator space.”

Investing in Skills over Trophies
As part of this commitment, Stanbic unveiled the Stanbic Digital Content Creator Annual Prize, which features five high-impact, scholarship-based awards designed to professionalise the sector. They include the following;
Creator of the Year – Premium Professional Course
Financial Literacy Creator Award – Business & Management Insights
Social Impact Creator Award – Mid-Level Course

Kwikiriza emphasised the focus on long-term impact, noting, “Skills outlive trophies. These scholarships will give creators world-class capabilities to grow, monetise, and professionalise their work. This speaks to our commitment to youth empowerment and digital transformation.”
She revealed that the scholarships, delivered through Red & Yellow and accessed via the Uganda Digital Society (UDS), will ensure that creators gain the necessary skills to operate as formal, profitable small businesses.
She pointed out that Stanbic further supports this by highlighting its Youth CVP benefits, including digital account opening, no monthly fees, and financial literacy programmes, which are critical enablers for new entrepreneurs.

Digital Transformation and a National Development Platform
The partnership with the UCC, the regulator, ensures the Summit is aligned with national goals for a secure and innovative digital ecosystem.
Kenneth Tweheyo, UCC’s Head of Competition and Consumer Affairs, noted the regulator’s commitment to consumer protection, innovation, and enforcing network coverage obligations (requiring at least 95% population coverage) to ensure affordability of data—all essential for creators.
“We support platforms like the Ongea Summit because they encourage responsible content creation, digital safety, and innovation. Together, we can grow a safe, inclusive, and empowered digital ecosystem,” Tweheyo said.

Representing the Uganda Digital Society (UDS), John Ssenkeezi, the President, said that they are proud to serve as the technical partner for the Summit.
“We believe Uganda is rich with talent, especially within our young population. What matters most is equipping them with the right skills, knowledge to thrive,” Ssenkeezi said.

He added, “As we build partnerships, it’s not about chasing trending hashtags; it’s about delivering real value in a voice that remains authentic. This forum is the perfect space to advance the conversations we’ve already been driving”
In his remarks, Joseph Kanyamunyu, Summit Director at Ongea Africa, stressed that the Summit is a national development platform designed to address youth employment directly.
Kanyamunyu said, “The Stanbic Ongea Digital Creators Summit is designed to empower creators with skills, business tools, policy awareness, responsible content practices, and commercial opportunities.”
He stressed that the 2025 Summit will feature the Ongea Skills Lab for digital and business training and Roundtable sessions connecting creators to regulators and financial institutions.
According to Kanyamunyu, this multi-stakeholder effort is a catalyst for Uganda’s digital future by:
Enhancing Digital and Financial Literacy.
Improving Youth Employment Readiness.
Connecting Creators to Policy, Business, and Financial Support.
The collaboration, he noted, demonstrates that private sector investment, paired with regulatory support, is the most effective model for driving job creation through digital transformation in Uganda.
